A Mobile Notary Signing story
As a Notary Signing loan Documents for the Real Estate Industry, I Have Quite a few Signing Story's. I am always running across Situations that are both funny and not. Here is the first one that happened to me at the start of my career. Women like to read the documents more than the men do. Guys sometimes are not to smart. Guys seem to think if they don’t mention something it will not come up. Like when filling out a loan application that if they do not write it down it will no one will ever see it. This does have the tendency to come back and haunt you. For example, when I was a new Notary signing loan documents about 11 Years ago my third Notary Signing ever was a young couple married about 2 years getting their first home. As we were going through the Document signing the young wife is reading everything. Sometimes no matter how hard you try take control of the signing this happens. About 1hour 45 minutes into the Signing process she comes across the 1003. Usually the 1003 (the loan application) is near the end of the signing. As I knew from the way the loan signing was going she would read this also, and she did. But no worries we are almost done with the signing, I thought. When going over the money owed on page 3 of the 1003 she gets a strange look on her face, looks up at me and says. “I don’t have a Victoria’s Secret credit card. We both look at the husband, He was sitting there frozen. She looks back down and then says “ It says it has a balance of over $2000.00 owed. Now if he was a quick thinker he could have said “You got a great Christmas coming.” or even “I am a cross dresser.” But no, he just sat there staring. As I said, guys, sometimes are not to smart else At this point she Said to me “Sir can you please leave now. When I checked with the loan officer later he said, they did sell their present home. But did not go through with the purchase of the new home. She, of course, has started divorce proceedings. I always cringe when someone reads the 1003 (loan Application) during the loan closing now.
